The Royal Rivalry
trophy design

The Townebank Royal Rivalry is a collegiate competition between Old Dominion University and James Madison University, set within the Sun Belt Conference. As the seasons unfold, the Royal Rivalry Trophy awaits the school with the highest accumulated wins. This distinguished trophy emerged from a collaborative effort between myself and JMU Industrial Designer, Elizabeth Olchevski. Together, we worked closely with the sports departments of both ODU and JMU to craft a regal symbol of their spirited rivalry.
Our creation, a symbol fit for royalty, takes the form of a wearable crown positioned upon a wooden base. This design incorporates plaques along the base, ready to bear the engraved names of each year's triumphant winner, preserving the history of this fresh competition. Currently in the fabrication stage, the Townebank Royal Rivalry Trophy promises to be a timeless and visually striking testament to the enduring spirit of collegiate competition between these two esteemed institutions.
